California has just voted by 5 to 0 to cut down on the State's TV electricity consumption. The California Energy Commission, based on a study by PG&E, the California utility, reckons that the TV accounts for roughly 10% of domestic electricity consumption while the tendency is for bigger and greedier screens.By introducing regulations based on a new standard the commission hopes to spark innovation and encourage manufacturers to come up with lower energy consumption TV sets.
